for everyone

mas mabagal nga kaysa...WTF, I can be patriotic and still speak English.

Yes, it is much slower than the prescribed march rhythm of Republic Act No. 8491. But before this was legislated by the Ramos administration, the national anthem was sung every which way. There's an exquisite a-capella version by the UP Madrigal Singers and even a horrendously trendy "We are the world" rendition by the OPM in the late 80s. (You're just too young to remember Lupang Hinirang sung any other way.)

But you and I both know that this film would never work with a martial anthem. Mae Paner is currently appealing to the NHI, which enforces RA 8491, to allow her particular version.

And I agree 100%. We're not soldiers marching off to war. (Most of us, anyway.) I wouldn't even mind an arrangement that resembles "Himig Natin," a rock ballad that's essentially the Pinoy rock anthem. Whatever floats your patriotic boat.
